Getting Linked In

Written Thursday, April 09, 2009 by Trippin'

Online social networking tools are booming.  Facebook boasts over 120 million stalkers, and is the 4th most trafficked website in the world.  For those who do not like the accessibility that Facebook offers complete strangers to your life there is a ‘business Facebook,’ namely, Linkedin.

Linkedin has become the online forum for business professionals. It offers a level of connectivity that you would expect to see in the real world.  Your closest friends and associates make up your network and then you are in turn connected to their networks, allowing you to access third parties.  Anyone farther than 3 connections requires a recommendation from someone you know in order to contact.  The result is that only people you know, like, and trust will be in your network, making each new contact a trusted asset.

Linkedin garners the attention of over 9 million users.  The average Linkedin user is 39 years old and makes 139,000 a year.  Of the 9 million plus users, 89,000 are chief executives including the likes of Bill Gates, and another .5 million occupy executive suites.  In an ever connected world, it is a place where players can go to play.

In an ever increasing effort to offer more to our clients, you can find the whole Stewart Transportation Solutions team at Linkedin.com.
