Happy New Year! I Can’t Complain!

Whew! 2009 sure was a doozy of a year and I know everyone at Stewart Transportation Solutions is ready to jumpstart 2010. How about you? To get the crew at STS in the mood to do just that we had our company retreat the week before Christmas. We had a great time looking back to 2009 at all of the programs that had us traveling from coast-to-coast. From Tech Ed in Los Angeles, WPC in New Orleans, ACE Hardware in Las Vegas and Atlanta and Company Meeting in Seattle we were flying and driving here, there and everywhere in 2009!

We reserved a lot of buses, sedans and specialty vehicles for our clients and we’re especially happy all of our customers were able to Make Meetings Matter in 2009. While there was plenty of scaling back the majority of conventions and events moved forward this past year; albeit a little smaller and maybe a little less grand. But, business travel is the on the rise again and 2010 is looking like it’s going to be a great year.

In addition to recapping our year we also learned a lot about personal responsibility and accountability for the choices we make in life either personally or professionally. And in keeping with our Servant Leadership Philosophy we embarked to make 2010 a year with no complaining! Yeah, right you say. How in the world are we gonna do that?  Transportation is not one of the things people refrain from complaining about, is it? Whether it is plane, train, automobile or bus, transportation and traffic related issues rank at #2 of things people complain about the most, barely edging out the internet and phone service. Wow! Tough statistics to overcome but you know what? Our superior customer service and program accountability make Stewart Transportation Solutions one of the top-rated companies providing transportation management solutions in the country. Don’t believe me? Take a look at our testimonial page.

Now, does being top-rated in these areas exempt us from having complaints? Nope. But, we are determined that this year we’re going to do our part to keep from spreading a complaint culture! The team watched the video from A Complaint Free World and decided that this was a movement Stewart Transportation Solutions wanted to join. We learned the average person complains 15-30 times per day. Sometimes without knowing it because complaining is a habit! The theory is it takes 21 days to change a habit or get rid of it. A Complaint Free World asks that each participant wear a purple bracelet and go 21 days without complaining! If you do complain, you have to switch the bracelet to the other arm and start over counting the days!

You think it’s easy? You think you never complain? Well, a few folks on our team thought so too and have since learned that boy, do they complain a lot! Whether it’s the weather or how little sleep you get complaining is a habit we all do. We started this program on December 15th and yes, it’s been over 21 days. No one on the team has yet to make the 21 day mark – but we’ve had a couple get to Day #5! The best part is the whole team is working on it, the whole team is excited about being a part of this movement and the whole team wears their purple bracelet every single day. Not complaining is going to make us happy, healthier people and we’re going to do our part to spread this philosophy.

To find out more how to become complaint free visit http://www.acomplaintfreeworld.org to get your purple bracelet! So, far over 6,000,000 bracelets have been distributed toward the goal of 60,000,000 – 10% of the world’s population.

We’ve had a lot of fun so far on this journey to be complaint free. It’s our 2010 motto and it’s catching on! Be sure to ask any Stewart Transportation Solutions team member how their doing when you see them on the road. See if they have any complaints. I dare you.

“If you don’t like something change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”
