The Numbers Game

Event Transportation by the Numbers!
2009 is drawing to a close and at Stewart Transportation Solutions its been quite a year! Lets take a little peek at some of the 2009 statistics in our crazy little world of shuttles, transfers, conventions, associations, buses, limousines, sedans and meet & greet services. Not to mention planes, trains and automobiles Steve Martin & John Candy have nothing on STS!
Conference Shuttles from A to Z
From Ace Hardware all the way to Zed Ink, STS managed 159 conference shuttles this year! Thats a lot of buses. How many? Well, about 3,978 to be precise. And heres a little fun factoid that most people dont think about. The sheer number of vehicles used over several conference days means we moved about 450,000 passengers in 2009! Talk about green transportation! Imagine if there had been no shuttle service for these attendees and they had to take cabs or rent cars? Now, thats a whole lot of shuttling going on! But it doesnt break an STS record! 2008 is our record year for putting folks in buses at 529,829. Were looking for 2010 to beat that.
Executive Sedan Transfers
Yep, weve even got stats on the number of executives we transferred in 2009. Some 747 executives received awesome service from the team of program managers at STS and our stellar vendor partners around the country. We moved executives in several cities like, Atlanta, New York City, New Orleans, Seattle, Boston, Hilton Head, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco, London, Las Vegas, Aspen, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and San Diego to name just a few!
Meet & Greet Service
STS has hired over 199 independent contractors in 2009 in all of the cities we just mentioned. Not bad for a recession year. And, weve managed more airport transfers than ever this year!
Well, thats a little bit of the numbers game for you. And were going to close out this year getting by ready for 2010 in style. Every year we have a company retreat and bring all our employees and travel staff together to review the last year, go over important issues in our industry, have great training sessions and a whole lot of fun. Past STS retreats have included learning how to be servant leaders, raising our customer service levels, the importance of following your dreams and a little bit of sumo wrestling, bowling, karioke and laser tag thrown in for fun. What will the 2009 retreat bring? Youll find out more in our end of the year blog posted next month!
In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving! And if you are traveling over the holiday remember how much goes into getting yourself from Point A to Point B. Sometimes it takes a team!
